China's relations with Asian neighbors showed a promising trend and China will adhere to its Asian policy, Chinese President Hu Jintao said on Wednesday.
Hu made the remarks in a written interview with media from the Republic of Korea (ROK) prior to the fifth G20 Summit scheduled for Nov. 11 to 12 in Seoul.
Hu said, China and its Asian neighbors had maintained close contacts at high levels, established different forms of partnership, and continuously expanded mutually beneficial cooperation.
With the joint efforts of all parties, the exchanges and cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, finance, science, culture and other areas between China and its Asian neighbors had reached an unprecedented depth and scale, Hu said.
"We have respected and supported each other while addressing the major issues of common interests. We helped each other during the international financial crisis. We worked together in dealing with local hot issues. We promoted local regional cooperation together in the spirit of mutual understanding and accommodation. We supported each other and stood together in fighting against major natural disasters," Hu said.
Hu stressed that China valued its traditional friendship with its neighboring countries, adhered to implementing the policy of building good neighborly relationships and partnerships, and was committed to working together with neighboring countries to create a regional environment of peace, stability, equality, mutual trust and cooperation.
China insisted it would properly handle and resolve the existing differences and problems with neighboring countries through consultation and dialogue, Hu said.
China has always actively promoted peaceful negotiations and advocated the spirit of unity and cooperation while addressing disputes and contradictions in Asia, Hu said.
Hu believed that with joint efforts of all countries, a more peaceful, stable and prosperous Asia would emerge.
