Governor of far west China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region said Friday that a few terrorist incidents will not change the overall situation of stability in the region, but warned the fight against separatism will be "long-term, complicated and fierce."

Nur Bekri, chairman of the regional government, made the remarks on the sidelines of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing.

"The 'three evil forces' of separatism, extremism and terrorism are unwilling to see a prosperous, united and stable Xinjiang and use every possible method to sabotage the social stability," he told reporters.

He said authorities in Xinjiang will continue to take forceful measures to crack down on terrorist activities.

"We have the confidence, the ability and the resolve to guarantee a stable Xinjiang," he said.
