The report on the Constitutional Development of the Hong Kong
Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) by Chief Executive (CE)
Donald Tsang is "positive, responsible and pragmatic".
Members of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing
Committee, the country's top legislature, said this yesterday.
Their remark came at a panel discussion during the NPC Standing
Committee legislative session on Tsang's report to the top
legislature on public consultation on constitutional development,
and whether there is a need to amend the methods for choosing the
Hong Kong CE and forming the Legislative Council in 2012.
The NPC Standing Committee members said Tsang's report followed
the Basic Law, Hong Kong SAR's constitution, and relevant
interpretations of the NPC Standing Committee, and was based on
views and suggestions collected from every group and sector of Hong
Kong society.
The report reflects comprehensively and objectively all opinions
and appeals of Hong Kong society on constitutional development, the
members said.
"The report is positive, responsible and pragmatic," they
said.
