Hong Kong Secretary for Labor and Welfare Matthew Cheung Kin-chung will pay a two-day official visit to Guangzhou, capital of Chinese mainland's Guangdong province, on June 2 and 3, a government press release said on Saturday.
During his visit, Cheung will call on the Director-General of the Department of Labor and Social Security of Guangdong Province Liu Youjun. Cheung will also co-chair the second meeting of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Expert Group on Social Welfare Co-operation with the Director-General of the Department of Civil Affairs of Guangdong Province Liu Hong, said a press release from the Information Services Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.
Cheung will visit Hong Kong residents in a local home for the aged as well as pay home visits to Hong Kong families, including Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients and those under the Portable CSSA Scheme. He will meet staff of the International Social Service -- Hong Kong Branch which has been providing services to these families.
Cheung will also take the opportunity to visit the Guangdong Consultation Service Center of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions to meet with some 30 Hong Kong elders residing in Guangzhou, the press release said.
He will return to Hong Kong on Tuesday evening, according to the press release.
