Thirteen out of the 26 students injured in a school stampede in central Hunan Province have been discharged from hospital, said a spokesman with local health department Friday.

As of Friday noon, 13 students have return to school after receiving comprehensive body check in hospitals in Xiangxiang city, said Bao zhiping, director of the municipal health bureau, adding five to six more students will leave hospital soon.

The students were victims of a deadly stampede on Monday in privately-run Yucai Middle School in Xiangxiang city, in which seven boys and a girl, aged from 11 to 14, died.

When the injured were admitted to hospital, nearly all of them had bruises on their faces, necks and chests as a result of the crush, said Tang Zhenhua, a doctor with the Xiangxiang Municipal People's Hospital.
