A total of 70 survivors had been carried out of the flooded coal mine in northern Shanxi Province by Monday noon and provincial Party chief Zhang Baoshun expected more would be rescued.
"A total of 95 survivors had been identified and I expected there would be more to be found in the flooded mine," Zhang said when he arrived at the hospital where some of the rescued miners are being treated.
Zhang told reporters some survivors would be transferred to better hospitals in the province after medical check, but he believed most would recover at the hospital affiliated to Shanxi Aluminum Plant.
Zhang is visiting some of the survivors at the hospital.
