At least eight people were killed and 24 others injured in a traffic accident in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Wednesday morning, local police said.

The accident took place at about 7 a.m. in Pingguo County of Baise City, leaving eight people dead on the spot, according to the Public Security Bureau of Baise.

Police were investigating the accident.
