One worker was killed and nine others were injured after a building under construction collapsed in Hotan City of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, a local authority said Wednesday.

The accident happened at around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday at a construction site on Nawage Road. Ten people who were working at the site were buried, said a spokesman with the city's public security bureau.

All ten were rescued and sent to hospital at around 2:13 a.m. Wednesday. One died in hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
