The governments of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Guangdong Province on Monday signed here three pacts concerning cooperation in tourism and medicine.

Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua led an official delegation to attend the Guangdong-Macao Joint Co-operation Conference, where he met with the SAR's Chief Executive, Chui Sai On.

After the meeting, the two sides signed an agreement on tourism cooperation, two memorandums on the joint-development of a Chinese medicine industry zone and on the drafting of the two sides' regional cooperation framework.

The SAR government has made great effort to enhance its ability to participate in the two sides' cooperation and deepen the effects of such cooperation through integrating the efforts by the government and local communities, said Chui, who along with Huang, witnessed the signing of the three documents.

He also said that the SAR government will continue to push forward industry cooperation on service sectors, such as tourism and trade, so that Macao can further develop into a real "world tourism and leisure center."

During the meeting, the two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation on the development of cross-border infrastructures, transportation, business and education.
