Waterlogging inside a primary school campus has led to drinking water contamination, which resulted in the food poisoning of 70 students in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the local authorities said Saturday.
These students suffered from fever, headaches and stomach aches Wednesday as well as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, after they had a meal at Yingcai Primary School in Yulin City.
The students were confirmed to have diarrhea.
According to the city government, all sickened students are currently out of danger, with their health conditions improved and body temperatures below 39 Celsius degrees.
The government said rainstorms hit the city on June 21 and resulted in waterlogging inside the campus, which contaminated the school's drinking water.
After the poisoning, people who had close contacts with the sickened students all received prevention treatments, and areas in and around the school's dining hall were disinfected, said local authorities.
