An annual emergency safety exercise was carried out between Monday night and early Tuesday morning at a heliport located at Macao's Outer Harbor Ferry Terminal, Macao's Civil Aviation Authority said on Tuesday.

The drill was carried out according to the respective emergency plan by the concerned parties in response to a helicopter accident, which was participated by nine government bodies and operators, according to the Authority.

The scenario simulated a helicopter accident occurring upon landing at the heliport, which caused a fire. Three passengers on board sustained injuries to different degrees. Immediately after the accident has occurred, the concerned parties activated the Heliport Emergency Plan and dedicated themselves into rescue and evacuation work.

The drill, which was originally planned to take place on July 20 but was postponed due to the tropical storm "Chanthu", was deemed smooth with its goal achieved, the Civil Aviation Authority also said.
