The U.S. government has donated 50,000 U.S. dollars for relief work in mudslide-devastated Zhouqu County in northwest China's Gansu Province.

U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman made the announcement here Wednesday in a press release.

According to the release, China's Red Cross Society on behalf of the Red Cross Society in Gansu Province will receive the donation.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Tuesday expressed condolences over the deadly flooding and mudslides in China.

The U.S. government has already donated 150,000 U.S. dollars to China's flood-hit regions.

A massive rain-triggered mudslide hit Zhouqu Sunday, causing at least 1,117 deaths, with 627 others still missing.
