A moving bus hit a parked bus in Beijing on Tuesday night, causing injuries to 23 passengers on the two buses, said Xinhua news agency.

The accident happened when a No 461 bus bumped into the rear of another bus at the Longjinyuan Fourth District bus station in Huilongguan, northeast of downtown Beijing.

The parked bus was smoking after the hit, with its rear windows breaking into pieces, said a passenger on the No 461 bus.

The No 461 bus fleet will pay for the injured passengers after responsibility of the accident is affirmed by Beijing's transportation department, said an official surnamed Zhang, who is in charge of the bus fleet's security affairs.
