Chinese prosecutors brought charges in 2009against 580 suspects of transnational economic crimes, including trafficking and counterfeiting patents, according to a statement on Saturday from the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).
Among them, 311 suspects were accused of crimes, such as trafficking, financial frauds and illegal operations, while the remaining 269 were charged with counterfeiting patents and other crimes, the statement said.
It has always been an important task of the Chinese procuratorial authorities to crack down on transnational crimes, and authorities have continually deepened cooperation with foreign prosecutors in this regard, the SPP said.
On Thursday, the SPP signed a cooperation agreement with its Russian counterpart and a separate cooperation memorandum with its Iranian counterpart in the coastal city of Xiamen in southeast China' s Fujian Province.
