A teacher of a private kindergarten in Xinghua, Jiangsu Province, was detained by police yesterday after scalding the faces of seven students with an iron for being "noisy," Yangtze Evening Post reports.

Students 'ironed' by teacher

School administrators have said the teacher was "unprofessional" and promised to pay for the students' treatment in Shanghai.
