The 7,590 suggestions Chinese legislators made at the annual session of the nation's top legislature in March have received feedback, a report said Friday.
The suggestions have been given to about 180 government departments and public institutions, said He Yehui, vice secretary general of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), whose bimonthly session is running from Dec. 20 to 25.
They have followed most of the suggestions and improved their work, He said in a report to the session attended by 150 NPC Standing Committee members including Chairman Wu Bangguo.
The suggestions concerned balancing the development of different regions in China, upgrading industry, saving energy and reducing pollution, protecting the environment, reforming the medical services sector and improving management of the real estate market, He said.
Those related to rural development, people's livelihood and environmental protection were well taken by the government, he added.
In addition, the NPC committees discussed and decided upon all 506 motions raised by legislators at the annual session in March.
According to the Chinese Constitution, NPC deputies and members of the NPC Standing Committee can submit motions and proposals that are within the respective functions and powers of the NPC and its Standing Committee.
A motion will be legally binding when it is adopted while a proposal is not.
According to the Organic Law of the NPC and the NPC's rules for the discharging of its duties, a motion can be raised by the presidium of the NPC, the NPC Standing Committee, special committees of the NPC, the State Council, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, a provincial-level delegation (of deputies) to the NPC, or a group of at least 30 NPC deputies.
