Chinese mainland police on Thursday repatriated two wanted fugitives to Taiwan, said officials with the Ministry of Public Security.

Two Taiwanese drug dealers on the run were arrested by mainland police in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, on Nov. 18 at the request of Taiwan counterparts, the ministry said.

The Chinese mainland and Taiwan signed an agreement on April 26, 2009 on mutual assistance in judicial areas.

According to the agreement, the two sides would take measures to jointly crack down on crimes and agreed to help each other identify witnesses, as well as seize and repatriate criminals and suspects.

So far, four drug dealers have been repatriated to Taiwan since the signing of the agreement.

The mainland police uncovered 38 drug dealing cases involving drug dealers from Taiwan in the first half of 2010.
