Six people died after their car crashed into a tank truck on an expressway in southwest China's Guizhou Province Thursday night, rescuers said Friday.

The accident happened at 8 p.m. on an expressway in Qingzhen City, a spokesman with the city's fire brigade said.

No oil had spilt from the truck's tank, but traffic was halted for at least an hour, he said.

A woman and a child were among the dead, the spokesman said without giving details.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
