The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, approved an amendment to China's Road Traffic Safety Law at the end of its bimonthly session on Friday.

Those who drive after drinking alcohol but are not drunk will face a six-month suspension of their driver's license and a fine, according to the amendment, which was passed after a vote by legislators.
