China's State Council, the Cabinet, will lean more support including more government funding and encouraging bank loans to the construction of affordable housing.

Officials attending an executive meeting of the State Council agreed that the government will strive to ensure that construction of the nation's planned 10 million affordable housing units this year will all commence before the end of November.

Meanwhile, the officials called on builders of affordable housing to guarantee the quality and safety of the buildings.
