Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Tuesday stressed the roles of People's Liberation Army and the People's Armed Police Force as he addressed a rally in Lhasa marking the 60th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet.

"The PLA garrison, PAPF units and law enforcement departments in Tibet are staunch forces and loyal guardians protecting national borders, safeguarding the socialist modernization and upholding social stability in Tibet," said Xi.

Xi called on these forces to continue to carry forward the fine traditions and work styles, and to fulfill their sacred mission and make further contribution to the leapfrog development and long-term peace and stability of Tibet.
