China's finance and civil affairs ministries Friday allocated 40 million yuan (about 6.21 million U.S. dollars) to flood-hit people in eastern Shandong Province.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) said the money was allocated to assist those affected by the floods so they can better arrange their daily lives.
The MCA made the move after floods caused by heavy rain starting Sunday hit parts of Shandong, particularly the coastal city of Weihai. As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, the floods had caused six deaths and forced the evacuation of 124,000 people, the ministry said earlier.
The finance and civil affairs ministries have allocated a total of 1.95 billion yuan in subsidies for natural disasters-hit people since the beginning of this year.
Among that, about 475 million yuan was for those affected by rain-triggered floods.
