Ouyang Xiadan and Lang Yongchun, the two new anchors of the news program which airs daily at 7 p.m., have hosted other news programs on CCTV for many years and are well known. Viewers said they hoped the pair would make some changes to the program's style and enrich the news team, the report said.
A brilliant blue "Xinwen Lianbo" logo appeared onscreen at the bottom left as a part of the program's makeover. A news flash was added at 7:25 p.m. on Sunday's program to broadcast brief world news.
The makeover began in August in a bid to inject fresh blood into one of the country's most authoritative news programs. Ouyang and Lang stood out in the competition for the positions. Previously, four new anchors joined the program in 2007.
But some media experts believe CCTV will aim for a balance between the needs of the audience and its political function, adding that further changes to the program would be unlikely in the near future.
