Chinese senior officials on Thursday briefed the country's senior political advisors on the outcomes of the recent session of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, calling for suggestions from the advisors on cultural development.
Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said at a meeting held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), that it was an important time to strengthen the country's soft power by developing the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics.
The 17th Central Committee of the CPC concluded its sixth plenary session in Beijing Tuesday, adopting a guideline to improve the nation's cultural soft power and advocate Chinese traditional culture.
Li urged the CPPCC members to make more contributions to reforms and construction of the cultural systems.
Presiding over the session, Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, urged political advisors to learn from the CPC session's guideline, so to boost cultural development.
