The Ministry of Civil Affairs on Wednesday sent 2,000 cotton tents and other relief materials to northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the wake of a 6.0-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the region Tuesday morning.

Relief materials sent to quake-hit areas in the Kazak Autonomous Prefecture of Ili also included 3,000 folding beds, 10,000 cotton-padded quilts and 10,000 coats.
Statistics from local authorities showed that more than 3,800 people have been evacuated since the quake jolted the region, destroying 824 houses.
Relief teams dispatched by the ministry are currently working in the quake-hit Gongliu and Xinyuan counties to guide rescue and recovery work.
