A run-down bridge collapsed in a central Chinese city Saturday, sending four vehicles plummeting into the river and injuring two drivers, local authorities said.
The accident happened at around 5 a.m. in the city of Xiangcheng in Henan province after an overloaded sand truck drove onto the Fenheban Bridge, causing the bridge to collapse, said the city's publicity bureau.
Following the sand truck, a mini van, taxi, and medium-sized truck rushed into the river, said the bureau.
Two drivers were slightly hurt in the accident.
The bridge was built in 1977 and reportedly in a ramshackle state. Local authorities have set up an investigative team to probe into the case.
