A pileup has left six people dead and three others seriously injured in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, local authorities said Tuesday.

The collision took place around 8 p.m. Monday in the city of Chifeng, involving a pickup truck, a mini-bus and a taxi, the city government announced in a statement.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident, the statement said.
