A gas explosion in a residential community in the province of Hebei killed three and injured 17 others on Friday, according to local authorities.

The accident occurred at 4:35 p.m. in Xianghe residential community in the city of Tangshan, the Tangshan municipal government said in a press release.

The 17 injured have been sent to hospital, and the cause of the accident is under investigation, it said.
