Central China's Henan province will allow parents from single-child families to have another child, becoming the last province in the country to adopt a relaxed family-planning policy.

The Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial People's Congress reached a decision after voting on Friday to amend the province's population and family-planning regulation during a meeting.

The revised regulation now has an additional clause that states that couples who are both from single-child families may have two children themselves.

Three decades of implementing the one-child policy have prevented more than 33 million births in the province, although the province's population is still expected to rise. The province plans to keep its population under 107 million by 2020.
