China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Wednesday called on non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and people without any party affiliation to play a greater role in the country's modernization drive.

Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, called on them to capitalize on their resources and make efforts to boost China's economic development.

Jia also asked them to make more efforts to ensure China's economy develops in a steady and relatively fast manner and to contribute to social harmony and stability.

In addition, he urged Communist Party of China (CPC) committees at various levels and local governments to give support to non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and those without any party affiliation.

Jia made the remarks at a ceremony where representatives from non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and people without any party affiliation were given awards for their outstanding contributions to the country's modernization.
