A public lecture was held in Beijing Thursday to pay tribute to the contributions that the Chinese Red Cross has made to humanitarian causes.

Several individuals, including staff of the Chinese Red Cross, volunteers, donors and beneficiaries, shared their personal understandings about the cause of the charity during the lecture.

The event, attended by Vice Premier Hui Liangyu and the President of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) Hua Jianmin, featured the stories of selfless Chinese volunteers who have provided quake relief and offered medical services to communities and remote rural areas.

Part of the lecture was devoted to the achievements of the RCSC in international aid and people-to-people exchanges.
