A landslide-triggered barrier lake was dredged Sunday in southwest China's Yunnan province, local officials said.

The landslide, which occurred Saturday, had blocked the Bijiang River and formed a barrier lake, threatening hundreds of people, in a remote mountainous area in the province.

The lake was successfully dredged at 3:30 p.m., after a 187-meter-long diversion channel was dug, in Yunlong County in the Dali Bai autonomous prefecture, said an official of the county's government.

A temporary path was made for traffic and evacuation was under way at the same time, the official said.

No casualties were reported.

The landslide occurred at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, resulting in an accumulation of 1.36 million cubic meters of earth and stones and cutting off the flow of 486,000 cubic meters of water.
