A former court official in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was sentenced to 13 years in jail for corruption, a local court said Thursday.

Ma Yansheng, former vice president of Ningxia Higher People's Court, was convicted of taking bribes totaling more than 2.2 million yuan (348,480 U.S. dollars), the intermediate court of the regional capital Yinchuan said in a statement.

The intermediate court handed down the jail term on Thursday after the trial.

The ruling also included confiscation of personal property worth 200,000 yuan and recovery of all Ma's illegal income.

Ma was removed from his post in September.
