A landslide buried a work shed and left six people missing Tuesday afternoon in southeast China's Fujian Province, local authorities said.

A preliminary investigation showed that the landslide, which occurred at 3:30 p.m. in Longdeyang village of Gutian county, was triggered by recent rains, said Wu Dajin, Party chief of the county.

Illegal rare earth mining was also a main reason behind the landslide, according to the county government.

More than 300 people are searching for the missing ones.
