A government website in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province, which had been empty for two years was filled with information within couple of hours after the situation was exposed by media on May 30, the People's Daily reported.

The website was found 'completely blank'.

The website was found "completely blank".

The website of the Baixia district housing and construction bureau, was found "completely blank" by local Internet users, giving only the names of two bureau chiefs. The page of "inquiry and complaint" couldn't even be opened, according to the report.

A bureau official, who only gave his name as Li, said they "had nothing to release".

However, by 6:40 pm on May 30 the website had been filled with some brief information and the bureau released an apology letter on it, claiming that they did not realized the importance of communicating with residents through the network platform.

Pan Jiandong, deputy Party head of the bureau, said the website was built two years ago, but they didn't pay much attention to it, the report said.
