The tropical storm came ashore in Nanshui Town in Zhuhai City at 2:30 a.m., with winds near its center reaching 90 km per hour, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Center.
It is forecast to quickly weaken as it moves northwest after making landfall, the center said.
Affected by Doksuri, coastal regions in Guangdong have observed winds of up to 60 km per hour, as well as rainstorms in several cities, including Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Zhanjiang, the center said.
The tropical storm was also forecast to trigger another round of heavy downpours in neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The region has been pelted by rainstorms over the last month, resulting in 11 deaths as of Friday.
