Three backpackers, one female and two male, traveled to the Meili mountain range last Wednesday and made camp at a height of 5,000 meters, said the publicity department of the Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Deqen.

The female backpacker, surnamed Zhang, was found the next day, complaining of dizziness. She reported her fellow backpackers missing.

Rescuers found the bodies of the two campers on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Zhang remains in stable condition.

Local scenic area managers said the campers did not follow the route specified on the scenic area's bulletin board and camped in an unauthorized area.

The Meili mountain range is located about 10 km northeast of Deqen county in the Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Deqen.
