A policeman from Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, was killed on Nov 22 during an operation to arrest criminals in neighboring Shandong province, the Modern Express reported on Tuesday.

Huang Sheng, 24, from Xuzhou's Zifang police station, went with his colleagues to Binzhou, Shandong province, to arrest a group of criminals.

Huang sustained a serious back injury during the police operation, and later died in hospital.

Xuzhou police sources said that the attack is being investigated by Shandong police.
