The Taiwan authority announced Monday it will donate one million U.S. dollars to support post-quake reconstruction work in the southwestern mainland areas rocked by a strong earthquake.
The donation will be handed to the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits by its Taiwanese counterpart, the Straits Exchange Foundation, the island's mainland affairs authority said in a statement.
It said the island will offer any assistance if needed in the aftermath of the disaster and encouraged Taiwanese people to donate for earthquake relief.
A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit the southwestern mainland Saturday morning.
