More than 80 kindergarten pupils were ordered to wear long-sleeved shirts whilst awaiting the arrival of local leaders, despite high temperatures on Monday. |
At an experimental kindergarten in Yulin city, North China's Shaanxi Province, more than 80 kids were asked to dress in their long-sleeved shirt and long trouser uniforms whilst waiting in a classroom without air conditioning for leaders of the local education department to arrive. The leaders ultimately failed to make an appearance at the school.
Most of the children were sweating profusely under a heat wave of over 30 degrees centigrade. "Kids could grow prickly under such hot weather", Mr Lee, a parent blames.
The kindergarten explained that kids are required to wear uniforms to greet leaders when they come to inspect the school, and that the uniforms are provided by a local foundation.
A similar case happened in Fujian Province last year when 200 pupils were forced to suspend classes and wait in line to greet provincial leaders.
Many netizens criticized schools for wasting children's valuable time for greeting leaders, and also are noted that schools should not advocate the worship of power.
