A sex education video clip depicting a boy who gets victimized by sexual abuse, has gone viral after being uploaded last month, Taiwan-based China Times reported yesterday.

The clip tells the bitter story of a boy named A Wei. Fed up with grandma’s nagging, A Wei goes to an internet café and plays online games there. Later, he gets hungry but has no money to buy food. A man, who calls himself Brother Jie, then shows up and invites A Wei and his friend to come back to his place for a treat; A Wei is subsequently sexually assaulted by the man. The boy doesn’t report the event to the police until he meets counselor Aunt Shuhui at a park.

Some lines in the clip such as “Don’t do that to me, Brother Jie,” “Wow, you are flushing” have become quite popular among Taiwanese teenagers now. Many boys like to imitate Brother Jie’s way of speaking and ridicule each other by uttering the phrase “you are just like Brother Jie.”

The clip became so popular that both a shorter and extended version have now been made available online.

“We’ve never thought it would become this popular,” said the clip’s producer Guo Gongbin, also chief secretary of Taiwan’s Academy for Educational Research.

Nevertheless, it remains a tad sad that the 7.5 minute-long educational clip is widely known for Brother Jie’s vivid performance and very few people care about its actual message to prevent sexual abuse.
