The Hanging Monastery [Guangming Daily]

A small open-pit coal mine was found behind the Hanging Monastery(Xuankong Temple), an ancient temple in Shanxi Province's Hunyuan County, the Guangming Daily reported.

 

Built more than 1,400 years ago, the Hanging Monastery is a major historical and cultural site protected at the national level.

 

Authorities have made specific plans to regulate local mining industry and protect the temple after many netizens criticize government's negligence over the amazing ancient structure carved on a sheer cliff.
