The Maanshan Yangtze River bridge in east China's Anhui Province opened on Tuesday at a cost of seven billion yuan (about 1.14 billion U.S.dollars).

The main body of the bridge over the Yangtze River is 11.209 km long. The total investment is about 7.08 billion yuan.

The bridge starts in Laoqiao Township in He County of Maanshan City,and ends at Dangtu County of Maanshan City. With a total length of 36.27 kilometers, the bridge also links the planned Maanshan-Hefei highway.

The bridge has a total of six highway lanes with a designed passing speed of 100 km per hour.
