E-mail China.org.cn, June 11, 2014You may have come across many types of dogs in your everyday life: dogs that are simply colossal, dogs that are teeny-tiny, dogs that are frighteningly ferocious and dogs that are just cute as a button … Yet you probably have never met one that is keen to attend class, especially science class.

There is one in Hefei, the provincial capital of Anhui, China.
Nicknamed "Laipi" ("Toad Skin" literally), the dog is a frequent visitor to the classes at Hefei No.1 High School. She gets up at 6:30 a.m. every morning when the school clock wakes up her fellow boarding students and starts her day along their side.
"She has cultivated this habit. Every morning after breakfast in the school's mail room, she picks out a classroom that goes with her mood and begins to attend classes." One teacher surnamed Dou told local newspaper Anhui News.
Laipi is not a disciplined student, though. When she gets bored, she will cut class, walk out and then opt for another class.
"She seldom leaves early from sciences classes; she sticks those out right down to the end together with the students. But when it comes to Chinese or English class, she often runs out in the middle of them." Dou said.
"She often comes to our classroom to attend physics class," a second-year student said, confirming Laipi's love for science.
"I often see her in chemistry class. She does not bark at all; she sits there quietly, just for class. Only thing is that she looks a bit scary." Teacher Zhang said, apparently referring to the peeled off skin on Laipi's back caused by a skin disease.
Laipi used to be a stray dog. She came to the school three years ago when she was pregnant. Her two puppies were then taken away and raised by local teachers, while she stuck around on campus and started frequenting classes. She has since been a favorite with both teachers and students there.
