Wang Yongchun, former vice general manager of the China National Petroleum Corporation, was expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for "severe violation of disciplines and laws", according to a decision approved by the CPC Central Committee.

Wang, also former general manager of the Daqing oilfield, "took advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others and received a huge amount of bribe," said a CPC statement released Monday.

"Wang's above-mentioned acts led to severe violation of disciplines, and his bribery issue is suspected of crimes," it said.

According to the statement, as reviewed at a meeting of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, a decision was made to expel Wang from the Party.

The decision is to be confirmed later at a plenary meeting of the CPC Central Committee, and the Ministry of Supervision has filed a request for the State Council to approve administrative punishments for Wang, it said.

Alleged criminal issues and clues have been transferred to judicial organs for further management, the statement added.
