Though all the raw materials are from remote provinces like Qinghai province, Bengbu city has developed to be one of the biggest jade markets in China and Xingfu village has become a village full of jade workers and jade production in as the last 30 years from 1980s.

In addition to the counterfeit scandal revealed by CCTV in 2012, the jade market in Bengbu city, characterized by high-priced and lifelike antique jade, also faces challenges due to the country's anti-corruption movement and slow economy.

It's said that Xingfu village will be demolished to make space for a large jade industrial park.
