A man wrapped himself in firecrackers and threatened to blow himself up in an attempt to save a broken relationship, reported Huashang Daily on Sunday.

The man in Hanzhong, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, threatened to commit suicide by firecrackers, and was arrested by the police on March 23. The man was attempting to save his relationship with his long-term girlfriend who had recently decided to break up with him.

The man reportedly "burst into tears" when he was taken to the police.
