Local residents in Shanghai have complained about a newly launched helicopter tour project.

They said the low-flying helicopters have "seriously disturbed their lives," according to a report from Shanghai Morning Post.

The helicopter sightseeing tour along the Hungpu River officially opened to the public on May Day holiday.

Many tourists queued to ride the helicopters on Friday saying they were excited about the experience.

However, local residents who live along the route are frowning at the idea, as the air routes of the helicopters cover some residential areas in Pudong area.

"A helicopter flies over my house almost every half hour. The roar of engines shake the windows and doors of my house," a resident surnamed Chen has complained to Shanghai

Morning Post through the newspaper's hotline, saying she has been hugely annoyed as helicopters roar over her apartment.

A lot of local residents have also complained the noisy helicopters on their twitter-like Weibo account.

In response, an official from Shanghai King Wing Aviation Company who operates the helicopter routes says they will make adjustment to the routes and raise the flight altitude.
