Doctors and nurses at a hospital in Huizhou City in south China's Guangdong province have reportedly drawn lots to decide who would enter the intensive care unit to treat the first MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) patient discovered in China.

Staff at the Central People's Hospital in Huizhou City have posted pictures on social media. They say they are determined to safeguard patients and themselves.

Unmarried doctors and nurses have been selected for the first batch of medical workers who would form the front line to fight against the disease.

The pictures have gone viral online with many netizens expressing their respect to the brave medical workers.
