The 8-year-old boy who was bullied by four middle school students in east China's Zhejiang province will receive 90,000 yuan as compensation.

After negotiations, parents of the four teenagers have decided to share the cost of compensation.

But the parents say that the compensation is a huge burden for their families.

The four middle school students are all children of migrant workers.

Their parents admit that their children lacked parental guidance, supervision and family care.

Last week, an online video showing several teenagers beating a primary school student led to public outrage.

The Four middle school students detained the primary school boy in an abandoned building while beating him and even used cigarette-butts to burn the child.

According to data from the Ministry of Education published last year, China has nearly 13 million school children from rural areas who are studying in cities, where their parents are employed as migrant workers.

Xiong Bingqi, an education expert from the 21st Century Education Research Institute says that the feeling of isolation in cities, a lack of parental supervision and psychological guidance have led to bullying and violent behavior among children of migrant workers.

Chu Zhaohui, a researcher of China's National Institute for Education Sciences stressed on the need to establish a social mechanism to focus more attention on the development needs of migrant workers' children.
